Hi

Can someone pls help. For wcdma, it was proposed that a 5MHz bw be used, one reason for diversity and then cos they could achieve the rates 144 -384Kbps.

I would like to know how did they calulate 384Kbps as the achievable data rate, wat assumptions had to be made?

Hi there. with the title "CDMA data rates" , you may not attract very many techos from the vodafone side of things.

I think CDMA was originally intended as an "027" forum and GSM/GPRS as an "021" forum.
(Before anyone knew/cared about Voda going with WCDMA)

Perhaps try these:
GSM/GPRS : http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=10
3G : http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=20

Mauricio - how about a renaming of some of the mobile forums? And is the "3G" forum going to be redundant soon?

People have to understand that WCDMA is not the same as CDMA 1xRTT or CDMA 1xEV-DO. These are different tecnologies, and because of this confusion some companies simply say UMTS or 3GSM.

The fomula is:

WCDMA = UMTS = 3GSM
WCDMA != CDMA

As for the forums, CDMA is for any CDMA-based network (1xRTT, 1xEV-DO), GSM/GPRS will be renamed GSM/GPRS/[UMTS/WCDMA/3GSM].

3G forum should be really about 3G services in general, regardless of network, but yes, I think it should be removed.

I am moving this message to the GSM/GPRS forum.

Explaining what? Where to post? It's on the forum description. Also please do not go OT on this thread.
