Does it use any data costs? I'm guessing A-GPS does, but integrated GPS?
Just wondering as I was trying it out yesterday on my 5800 when driving around for work. Works great, but I don't want to be lumped with a bill from my mobile provider later.

A-GPS is used for faster cold start of GPS, easy find satellites and uses data. GPS uses satellites only - does not cost anything.

Make sure you've installed the maps to your phone also, otherwise you could have quite a bill! A-GPS itself uses minimal data.

When I use it on my 5800, there is a data counter just above the satellite indicator that seems to be persistent (as long as maps is running) and seems to keep track of the data used. Its usually pretty minimal for me (200-300kb max) for driving around town. I have A-GPS on, maps loaded and map view (not satellite view which uses lots of data).

You should really only be using minimal data - if you have the maps loaded on your handset it's a few kb for a GPS fix. Even satellite view won't use extra data providing you have the maps loaded on your handset.

Nonsense, the satellite imagery is far too big to be included in the loaded maps. I have maps loaded and it definately does not include satellite. If I turn satellite view on it immediately uses ~400kb to download the satellite overlay for that location.

I beleive the app will also use data to download various POI information, so if you really want to minimise data usage then you probably want to turn all the POI categories off.

Satellite view is not saved to the handset, it is always streamed.
