OK, here's my first question on this forum site and it may sound a bit dumb but I always believe that if you don't ask you won't find out so here goes.

Q. Does anybody here know of any way of calculating the unlock code of a mobile phone from the IMEI number without having to download any sort of program, are there any formulaes to work from if so please answer with the solution or contact me with the formulae via private message.

No they are just random codes

Carriers use the IMEI to look up the unlocking code from a spread sheet

That's interesting, I didn't realize they were just random. This suggests to me that the unlock code must be stored somewhere on the device itself for lookup purposes..
