Really? All the non-smart models I've owned have had a battery life of about a week. Now that I've gone to smart phone myself, I've found it really weird having to remember to plug it in every single night.

I should say, they already have a large battery that they use for lights, charging their current phone etc. So the idea is to drain that as little as possible.

My work issued me a Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 as a cellphone, which is a low end "smart" phone. I turn off Wifi, GPS, Mobile Data, Bluetooth and only use it for TXT's and calls. No email, no internet, no maps, nothing. With light usage during work hours only I can get 7-10 days on a charge.

Smart phones can last a long time, as long as you turn off everything that make them smart. Even then, you would want a low end smart phone to accomplish this, or at least one with a small screen. When I have done the same as above with my HTC One I only got around 4-5 days.

I have a Sony Xperia tipo dual Sim which supports the 3G telecom and GSM Vodafone from Dick Smiths. While the small screen size would make it less then ideal for the OP's requirements. I do however get 7 days between charges with the phone on standby and mobile Data turned off

Someone posted the idea of a solar-powered battery charger; wouldn't that work well in concert with a suitable smart phone with relatively light power usage? It would ensure it didn't draw on their current usage...

They also have limited space, so having multiple external batteries/chargers would probably not be worth the effort. That's why they don't just have two phones.

How many days between charges. My wifes get about 3~4 days now on Android 4.4.2..

It isn't my main phone so it doesn't get hammered like my S4. I can get 3/4 days out of the Moto G

I'm looking at it right now and the specs page says "Telecom 3G 2100" and "GSM 850". I'm a noob at this, but I understood that to get full Telecom Coverage, they need access to the 850mhz range with different protocols to GSM.

Are the specs I'm looking at incomplete? Does it get full Telecom coverage?

Just looking at the Samsung S6102B Galaxy Y Duos, which looks like it might be a good option, and 700 hours standby sounds awesome.

Anyone know what it's like compared with other suggestions?

Hi The Xperia Tipo dual model which was a parallel import from Dick Smith has given me no trouble on Telecom. I believe there are 2 models available one which supports 850mhz Telecom and the other supports 900MHZ. With regard to the Galaxy Y the mother in law has a single sim version of the phone. While it still has a pretty small screen I believe the physical keyboard is bigger then the Sony

Telecom and Skinny have no GSM only 3G. Voda and 2D have GSM and 3G.. If you see anything with GSM on it ignore it when it comes to Telecom also Telecom 2100 is limited to metro areas..
