The Moto G gen 2 has an improved camera which from a few online reviews I have read reads up as being relatively average for 8MP but better than the original Moto G's 5MP jobbie
was in JBHifi yesterday and bought myself the HTC One M8 for $680, so the OP issue has now been solved by giving the missus my old HTC One X (plus the promis that if she hates it she can have a new phone for xmas)
