Hey its the Nokia WAP Gateway which has nothing to do with Vodafone. They outsource most things anyway.

The only way I got access to my site on my Vodafone mobile was use the http://tagtag.com and downloaded DotWAP 2.0 its free.

here is my quick wap site for demo purposes that works on my Vodafone Mobile

http://www.gsmmobile.co.nz/WAP/GSMmobilenz.wml

see

see my web site GSM Mobile NZ

what is this tagtag.com?
Why did you need to use them before you could access your site via vodafone?

Hi,

Well i tried hand coding and nothing worked. Tryed tagtag.com copied the code and worked first time on my Vodafone mobile.

All those wml checkers etc where a wast of time and frustrating as I did not know exactly what I was doing.

That is is why I give a free plug to them it simply works first time.

Will the answer is tagtag.com

I have my site working in the tagtag simulator thing. But still problems with vodaphone phones, I did try the fieldset thing a before but decided to try and keep the code as simple as possible. What advantages does the fieldset offer?

I couldn't get the same error messages when I used the validator. Which content-type did you use? I have bee using is0-8859-en

I will try to print some code using dotTag and compare the difference

cheers
guys

Hi,

Can I suggest perhaps we check two things.

Your Server is configured correctly to disply WML content (most Linux servers are not)
What type of browser you have in your phone.

This means that for example if the server is incorectly setup you may be able to still see parts of your site due to your phone (newer) having a html xml browser so it it partly sees this. Older phones like most Vodafone pre last year are WAP browsers only and they wont view anything or just come up with errors..

on www.gsmmobile.co.nz/Wap.htm there is info on Apache Web Servers (1/2 way down the page)

I have also posted the code on the above page to see what I used.

Does this make sense??????????

- if you get stuck as my server works just email me below a test page and I will uplaod to my server so you can test it.

I don't house the pages myself, but will contact the company that does and check the settings. Yeah I think that is the issue as the code validates but older browser or less capabible browser are having the difficulties. I will follow this up.

Thanks for you help. This has been a really frustating experience as there isn't a whole lot of information available on this as opposed to other formats.

Cheers

Hi again,

I will type this in doc this time.

I think you it might be the phone.

On Vodafone's site they don't list this as supported.

http://www.vodafone.co.nz/mobiles/dynamic_mobiles_list.jsp?hd=foryou&st=mobiles&ss=look2buy&listType=brand&brand=nokia

You are not going to like this but you will need to test your site on every single model out there as they are all different. I would suggest pick Vodafone's business handsets like Nokia 6600 and 6230

As I said it worked ok on my browser in the Panasonic xc60

Also check how big is your deck size - cut it down to see if this makes a differance??

I know with testing of WAP sites phone browsers do odd things and most Nokia web browsers are pretty ### that is why most people update them to Opera or netfont.

Check the APN in the phone it should be live.vodafone.com but try www.vodafone.net.nz

You could do a new post on Geekzone and post your URL and ask people to try for feedback as its not commercial Mauricio might be ok with this if in doubt ask.

You will have a hard time getting it to work I believe on all WAP browsers as they all interact differently with the WAP gateway and your WAP site. focus on the main phones out there.

Cheers kev.

Thanks Mauricio,

The forum problem is a user issue problem namely me Ha ha - I went Linux last week and are still getting used to Mozilla and Mandrake 10. App I had a naughty word in there but I missed seeing that error.

Cheers guys.

I suspected as much about individual phones. Is there a web resource that clearly identifies the difference between mobile browsers? If I were to convert the nokia users to the opera broswer, what would this involve?

The site is www.bwagroup.biz/Mobile the username: ran password: ran.

I Appreciate the help
