Mauricio, you mean I should change my phone, or is there a chance the new settings will make a difference? - There is no other GPRS flip phone with IRD or Bluetooth to my knowledge...

Mark the GPRS mdem will turn on automatically, You will never need to change that setting again, Try it and you will see the GPRS modem turn on and when the data session is finished the modem will turn off.

I agree with jcr976 on this thing. The GPRS setting will impact on overseas networks. For example if you turn on the T39m it'll automatically connect to the GPRS, and go to sleep. I had the idea that VF NZ changed something in the local network to minimise this problem - but since you're planning to use the phone overseas other networks may still have this bug.

As for changing phones, I used to have a T39m and yes this problem was there. Since then I've gone through a few newer models (my current one an i-mate Smartphone2) and never had this problem again.

Well, Mark can blame most of his problems on the phone, not the network then.

I hope this helps with his issues, Roaming is a very reliable service and I have used it for many years, If we were not at the bottom of the world im sure it would be even better.
