Yes, that's another good way of doing it :)

Problem is you still need somewhere to then serve the WML content from.

Still, if you're posting to geekzone you've probably got that bit figured out...

Out of curiosity, what is the split between Telecom and Vodafone users using workdial? Since you need be be a millionaire to be able to afford to use WAP on Telecom Mobile at $50 per MB it would be interesting to know how many people do actually leave the Xtra menu!

Aaargh - I'm going to throw this laptop out of the window in a moment. I've tried to post a reply a number of times and it keeps crashing... I hope it doesn't appear 3-4 times!!

I can't share actual stats with you but I can tell you that it's hugely weighted towards Vodafone.

Yes Telecom are expensive but the beauty of WAP sites us that they are mostly only a few bytes per page (with text & 1 graphic or so) so minimal data usage.

One thing that Telecom do do is that they charge per B, not per 10KB and so you don’t get rounded up at the end of each WAP session to the next 10KB. So, sometimes it’s not quite as expensive as the 5 times the cost of Vodafone it appears to be. (Mind you, let’s hope they all bring their data rates down so we can start having some of the sexy stuff from overseas without it costing us a fortune!)

Out of interest we did a study on a day in the life of WAP. We visited 44 pages in 10 sessions throughout the day, using 58.19KB of info.

Total Costs were:

Telecom - $3.00
Vodafone - $1.10

I can supply more info if you like, but I’m getting a bit nervous now because I just read the forum usage guidelines and I’m not supposed to talk about commercial stuff.

Hey foreverstorm. What you need to remember that $1.10 was for 44 pages of info, and most people wouldn't view that many in a week, yet alone a day, so it's not all bad.... gotta feel sorry for the Telecom users though ! :)
