Does it support 850 MHz WCDMA?


It does support 850MHz HSDPA....."The Telecom XT Network is 3G 850MHz WCDMA/HSDPA" so the phone should be fine. It is listed as being a compatible phone. It has been mentioned somewhere in these forums that Vodafone NZ supplied phones are not locked. I do believe that may not be necessarily true. When the phone is turned both on and off the vodafone picture comes up (With or without their sim card) so there must be some input there somewhere..

Locking is different than branding.
Locking would prevent other providers SIMs from being used.

Branding is where the start up logo, menu navigation, and features are added/removed depending on the operator.

the V9 appears to only do 2100. Ph you want is the V9x

I did do that and it is on the list. Thats why I figured there may have been a setup problem..

I have an AT&T Pantech Matrix Pro - the one I used for my first XT Network test a few weeks ago, and the IMEI check says "phone not found". Now, this is a Not For Resale model, so I am not sure it changes anything...

Ah ha, the compatibilty link that you supplied using the IMEI # has shown it to be incompatible, so the problem is solved. Looks like it will have to be a new phone if we want to go XT....

It would make things a whole lot simpler if the manufacturers just made one model with all freq's on board :/

The chipsets to enable that have only recently become available. Give it 6-12 months and there will be handsets available that do both 850 and 900 UMTS
