Thanks for the thread, I recently bought a Nokia 2270 CDMA phone (CDMA/1900Mhz)and I was too wondering what was with the RUIM slot.

Programming menu is the same as the TDMA phones, seems CDMA technology will too make phone numbers independent from the handset. Although I do wonder why they did not activate this function in this model already..

most cdma carriers havent setup their internal provisioning processes/support to cater with a move from esn based provisioning to imsi based RUIM provisioning.
The drive for RUIM in CDMA has been from the Chinese whom are already using this technology. As a lot of the phone chasis are the same for both Chinese and US/ Sth America/Asia/Pacific you end up with the slot but cant use it yet. Hopefully one day soon the cdma carriers will get it together and move fast to RUIM support.
