We have developed a WordPress communications plugin that interfaces with both the Telecom and the Vodafone SMS gateways.

The biggest problem with message media was that if you want to have smarter SMS apps then they cant do it easily - they were only really good for campaign management not custom SMS web apps.

SMS is not complicated
SMS is accessable
There are many options

Hi,

I don't understand why all of you are willing to pay even 1 cent per SMS text message when you can deploy a solution like pagegate and send as many SMS message for FREE!

I've used Clickatell before and they are very reliable... It's very easy to use their APIs too

Because you cannot guarantee that Telecom and Vodaone will not block pagegate messages. I would not recommend pagegate as a professional solution - that is to say I would never sell it to a client, it would be very unprofessional and embarrassing if all of a sudden their service stopped working because pagegate messages were blocked in NZ.

Really Vodafone, Telecom or any other can block Clickatell as well at any time...

Page gate is in business for over 5 years now. Check yourself the history of this company

My moto if u can get something done for cheap and if it works and used by a large number of US corporations....Hmm why not use it..

Page gate gurantees they provide constant support on new connections to major providers etc.

I am not promoting this company. If you go back to my first question I was trying to find a competitive solution. So far NO ONE has provided an equivalnet solution to page gate except most replies are all about pay per SMS text based services which are available dime a dozen around the world.

Still awaiting..

I understand. I'm just saying that you cannot always guarantee it will work in New Zealand given how vicious the market is. If you want something good then sometimes you just have to pay the price. The old saying "pay less now - pay more later" comes to mind....

Its actually illegal in NZ to use your phone as a gateway. Or so it says on the contract you agree to each time you use your phone :P

Yes you have point but when I look at the duration of this company in business and their solution used by many major organizations in US...I am willing to take the risk.

I offer a free service to people www.SureReminder.com and want to offer SMS text reminders at no cost. If I go with paid subscription my users will have to pay.

Hi,

It seems ur hung up on your thought process.

It doesn't matter where you live there are few mobile technologies used around the world. PCS, CDMA and GSM are the most common one, and now UMTS. Next will be EVDO (SMS/Voice/Video) over EVDO networks all IP based. Will be deployed around the world by the end of 2006.

All these technologies are developed by few major telecom manufacturers such as Lucent, then Nortel, CISCO, Motorola, Ericcson and so on.

I have asked my friends to findout if this type of solution will work in other countries or not. Will let you know.

BACK TO MY original question :)

Has someone seen a similar solution like note page.

You're dead right. All those technologies are developed by companies like Lucent... Moto... Eric.... etc but the technologies once they have been deploid are all controlled by the network operators. I'm probably just stating the obvious :P

I'm afraid I do not know of any stand alone desktop software that competes with note page - I prefer browser based software :P

I got side tracked by the heading "Need help to find the right SMS Gateway". Here in NZ an SMS gateway is usualy refered to as a piece of software that sends SMS messages to Telecom or Vodafone through third party content providers, who incidently control access to their SMS gateway. They can only offer certain price points as dictated to them by Telecom and Vodafone.

mylogon: I actually asked Sprint, Nextel (before the merger) and Cingulair. They either charge nothing or a flat fee (under $100 per month). It took a long time to even reach the right person to ask at each company.... The T1 or T3 line is the cost to connect to them - but most can even use dial-up.

I tried to find someone at Sprint. Nobody knows who to talk to.

It seems that here in the USA with the mess the government has created in an attempt to create competition, the only way to do SMS is through greedy 3rd party services that are asking $45,000/year. Nobody seems interested in supporting the small guy.

There was a compnay in San Francisco that was selling the gateway software, that is who gave me the contact info. I do not know if I still have - but I found it under software for sms, but I discarded it. (Like $40,000.)
