P500 there seems to be Telecom only?

For 3G only:
As on the previous page, it should work on 2Degrees and Vodafone in areas that are covered by 2100MHz range. Certain areas of the country are coverred by 900MHz range only (by Vodafone), and this phone will not work there on the Vodafone/2Degrees network.

It should work on 2G network throughout the country (so at the very least you would be able to make calls, but no internet?)  Can anyone please confirm that this is correct?

the Motorola Fire XT is not quite under $200 ($229 at noel leeming this week) but it does come with a Telecom supercharged sim worth $200 so its not a bad deal

I'm making a similar xmas present decision (voda again) with the additional requirement that it is likely to be used overseas for a few months. It is looking like the Galaxy Mini.

P500 was the preference because of the navigation maps and far far better screen & application compatibility - but getting a non-parallel vodafone capable one for $200 or less is looking very unlikely.

Yeah P500 looks the go based on comments here and specs.
Norman Ross etc has this at $149 I think it was today in Telecom vs $249 or so on Vodafone etc.

Not really prepared to do the 'use a Telecom on the Vodafone network' thing unless there's honestly no downside to it.

The Warehouse have a 2 degrees LG P500 for $189, Dick Smith have it at $199.

2 Degrees and Vodafone networks are similar/the same - so this model should suit Vodafone users.

Interesting. : ) I'll have a closer look tomorrow. 2deg
Might be a good option as well.

Anyone happen to know if the warranty is international from any of these retailers or Vodafone?

2G/GSM/EDGE can use internet (on vodafone/2degrees, XT doesn't have 2G/GSM), it's just slower than 3G internet (but does use less battery) :)
