iphone isn't the only one that does that. It would be good if they had a battery contact release switch somewhere.

From what I can work out you got it wet, put it on the bench and it didn't work after that. Claim insurance and buy something else, but don't expect it to be any different under the same conditions again unless you buy something specifically designed and marketed to handle getting wet.

Thanks for your two "helpful" replies. I actually thought the poster had the choice of the title of a thread within certain limitations.

Just to clarify what appears to be a couple of misconceptions - neither the iphone nor the Galaxy appeared wet either at night or next morning. The amount of moisture must have been quite minor as only a tiny section of the pcb was stained but that was enough.

To those who contributed something worthwhile whether in support or not.. thanks. I have looked into some of your suggestions and have finally decided to go with my original manufacturer HTC. I know there will be some who don't agree but I feel comfortable with the final decision.

Your title suggests I should be able to take my SG II out in the rain. Yes NZ gets rain and the rain not cause any damage to the handset

If it didn't get wet, and it's only 2 months old then you could return to where you purchased the phone and discuss it with them. Perhaps it's not a moisture problem at all and could be under warranty.

Gerry you are entitled to write what you want as are we. If you didn't want to here the nay Sayers maybe the wording should have been changed and maybe a more positive reaction would have resulted. In my opinion its nothing to do with brand otherwise it would have been a world failure which it isn't.

To be honest I haven't seen anything on any of the forums I watch about Samsung S2's being as bad as you make out. One can understand that you aren't happy but given you can now get a new phone it must be a positive. If SGS isn't for you then thats all good I hope you have better luck with next one.

jeffnz: I think the Op is over reacting a tad and don't believe its because its a Samsung. I take my SG2 when i'm cycling and its always damp from rain or sweat and is going great. Likewise my Samsung Captivate was great as well.

Maybe the Op should find out exactly what happened first before generalising about a particular brand.

Absolutely. I go walking with my S2 in hand in light rain listening to music.. no problems. Millions of S2s sold worldwide .. no such issue, but then millions of S2 owners make sure they take some reasonable care also

not sure your point Michael, are you inferring that only SGS2 will break when dropped on concrete, if so I would again have to disagree.
