@sbiddle:

I recommend two branks. Anker, followed by RavPower. IMHO Anker make the best charging products on the market. My reasons for recommending these are in the many identical threads in the past discussing this same issue on here.

Since you haven't given any details of requirements (capacity is only but a small one - number of ports and QC2.0 / QC3.0 support are the most critical) it's hard to recommend anything specific.

A few months back I remember you said Anker brank should be available in NZ. Any update?

At CeBIT in Sydney this year Anker were there and I spoke to them. The impression I got was that they expected to have products in stores within a few months hopefully in both NZ and AU. That clearly doesn't seem to be the case.

Has anyone had a 14000mAh+ anker or ravpower powerbank shipped from the US? Wont be through a freight forwarder.

I have this one which I find terrific. It holds its charge well and can charge up a smart phone quite a few times. My son took it on a holiday to the Sounds and it lasted a week charging up their mobiles.

I have this one as well, there is a better model out but hard to find stock that is more updated and has a higher capacity for about $15 more, otherwise this one is pretty good.

I can confirm that China airports are very hit and miss.

I bought a big Anker charger, and purchased a smaller capacity (I thought) charger in Hong Kong. I got through security at Guangzhou no issues. But the guy at Chongqing confiscated my charger from Hong Kong, but let me keep my other one. I'm happy it was that way around though.

He pointed at the label. He seemed to indicate it was a capacity issue or something. Didn't seem worth the fight. It was only worth about £10.
