Thanks for the clarification. There are plenty of people who find prepaid plans less convenient than billed plans, so it's good that this market is well catered for.

The ironic thing was Telecom had 1/2 price 027<->027 calls when they first launched their CDMA network and then proceeded to dump it not long before Voda launched Motormouth.

What I really want is a decent priced 200 or 300 min 24/7 plan. The pricing difference an offpeak plan and anytime plan for 200 mins is $65 - $30 vs $95, peak time calling rates are still a joke in NZ.

You should get youself on thr Association OP 100 plan. Its $35 monthly 35c per minute 24/7 and 100 free OP mins + $10 text.

At upgrade time, you can get a Sanyo 8200 for $49 or a 7400 for $149 - most cheaper phones will be at zero cost.

If you are not part of one of the listed associations for this plan, then you could find a friendly dealer somewhere........

Wait for it - I'd be willing to bet that Voda will "relaunch" their free text weekend promo as a capped text weekend...

Considering you cant text overseas or phones on any network other than vodaphone it might have to be re-branded crapped text weekend...

Either way it certainly wont be "free" if you read the fine print....

Vodafone probably figure body will want boring on txting when in just over a month you'll be able to actually talk to your friends and see them live on the screen on your phone? :-)

I do all my video calling over the internet. At the price video calling is likely to be, I wont be doing any over mobile. Even video messaging has not made a dent in my texting/photos (about 50 - 100 txts a month and about 10 photos - but only about 1 video message a month)

sbiddle - not likely - i have hard enough problems remembering who can recieve photos, and then who can recieve video..which of my friends/clients can recieve P2T? which ones find it socially acceptable to recieve a P2T?
it'll take years before you can assume that someone will have the hardware to recieve a video call.

heck, sms still isn't considered a legitamate business tool by many - imagine sms-ing your 10o'clock appointment to tell them you're running late? not common. you'd call them.

I just want cheaper data rates. Do you think Vodafone or telecom could do that for me?
Please.
Free data on the weekends.
Think of all the innovation this would create. :-)

Free data on the weekends? This would drive the networks down, seeing that one can't cope with free SMS traffic and the other with voice calls...

But I wouldn't complain if we could have flat rate data though.

Awesome - so they either sorted out capacity, or there were far less customers.

after the previous weekend, i didn't bother with my 021, and did all my sms on my 027.
might not be the only one.
