Jaxson:
GerryAttrick: neither the iphone nor the Galaxy appeared wet either at night or next morning.

If it didn't get wet, and it's only 2 months old then you could return to where you purchased the phone and discuss it with them. Perhaps it's not a moisture problem at all and could be under warranty.

I have had two problems with my SGS II since I got it in June (and I still have and love it) which the first problem I might consider something to do with moisture.

For a while it had a habit of going into hands free car mode randomly and at one time I almost threw it out the window as it was happening soo often.

I found out that it was likely due to dirt or corrosion build up around the USB socket, The only fix I found on the internet was to crush the end of a match so it was like a brush and rub it around the connector which I did and initially the symptoms did not go away but were alot less frequent and i did it again a few days later and have not had the problem since.

The second problem I have had recently is the Micro SD card dismounting itself all the time which most people's fix was to replace it so I have bought a new card and since then original card has not had a problem since so I have not replaced it.

I work in a ski resort in the winter so I just put down to being around wet stuff all the time and am planning on a Motorola Defy for working in the snow this coming season.

Don, this is a bit off topic  but here goes anyway, if you have probs with the USB or other mechanical interfaces, get some isopropyl alcohol available from a chemist or your local P lab, and a stiff artists brush from art store or Bunnings etc and give it a good soaking around the suspect area. Also great at dispelling moisture as per the issue that started this thread.

Although i wouldnt advise it and it wasnt a smart idea in the first place i took an important call in the shower before xmas on my galaxy s2 and it is still kicking along fine even after many many rom changes and drops.

As for Samsung as a brand I have a fridge, washing machine, surround sound, bluetooth headphones and tv from them that have never had any issues. (although none of which are older than 3 years)

I too have the same problem as you apart from I have never used it in the rain. I am awaiting the photos that apparently will prove the phone is "Liquid Damaged" but after strolling through the internet it does seem to be a very large problem with the SII. Mine died straight after taking a phone call whilst watching tv at home so how that got wet i will never know.

if you do a search for Vodafone UK Galaxy SII water damage you will see that it is a major problem in the UK with people up in arms that Vodafone keep coming back with "Water Damage" so it is a major problem with the design.

jeffnz: Gerry you are entitled to write what you want as are we. If you didn't want to here the nay Sayers maybe the wording should have been changed and maybe a more positive reaction would have resulted. In my opinion its nothing to do with brand otherwise it would have been a world failure which it isn't.

To be honest I haven't seen anything on any of the forums I watch about Samsung S2's being as bad as you make out. One can understand that you aren't happy but given you can now get a new phone it must be a positive. If SGS isn't for you then thats all good I hope you have better luck with next one.

go onto vodafone uk galaxy sii water damage forum you will be suprised how many people are suffering from it.
