Wow the Nokia n900 surely is a beast! I'm thinking perhaps the N900, and then a smaller going out phone for those drunken nights. Now all I have to do is sneak this past the Mrs ;)

Shame ya missed out bud...ya were not fast enough!

The Nokia N900 you will not get for a discount, not anytime soon anyway.

Also remember, if you want to use this on XT, I suggest you wait until Nokia release a NAM version that supports 850/2100GHz WCDMA...the current announced unit is not best suitable for XT

Read Micky's piece just before seeing this.

Sure is a chunky beast eh? I knew it was from the measurements, but seeing it up against an N97 (which itself could do with a diet) really makes me realise how big it is. No barrier for me, but sure is big. I'm sure Samsung could do this phone 2-3mm thinner....

Yeah...but I think that first pic is a bit deceptive due to the angle of the pic and how the mobiles are presented...the second and third pics are better reflections of size.

I mean, the N900 is supposedly shorter, yet it does not look so in those pics...

An interesting point to note, it that they both have 3.5inch screens, yet the N900 is wider...why?

And its a shame the N900 casing is so bland and boring, has no shape or style to it like the N97 does.

But matters not, I'm still sold, it does what I want and need (supposedly and hopefully)

Definitely a perspective issue in the first pic, I'd already spotted that. Its no thicker than my Touch Pro, and that was fine for me, and only a mm thicker than my Xperia/N82 so I think it'll be fine.

The screen looks wider as well the body as a whole, slightly different aspect ratio?

Interesting presentation of the N900 here - shows the Bounce game to good effect, but also this cool software that collects the lyrics for songs in the music player from the web and posts them to desktop while the music plays... Some of the first real examples of telephony on the device too....

Hi, I am new to this forum and was just about to click buy now for an n97 auction when i came across this site. Guess its a sign, If ordering in bulk......i would definetly be in...although im in christchurch so not sure how it would work with payment and stuff....but still in.....Cheers

God knows, I doubt we'll see it at all given how slow phones are to release here - not to mention networks aren't likely to take too friendly a view on this handset in particular.

Hey NZtechfreak...

Some observations regarding prices, availability, who is stocking this etc...

Looking around Expansys, they don't appear to be a good choice, due to they are more expensive than others (N97 currently $1130 excl GST...where Expert Infotech's N97 currently $1000 incl GST...thats a HUGE difference)
Also Expansys NZ office is located in Hong Kong, no office here...I don't trust that, where would we stand in terms of warranty?
They currently have the N900 for pre-order at $1155 excl GST.

I have also been following a thread over at Nokiausers, 'N900 at Wholesale', where roberth is suggesting he can get the device for $600US, that would put it at about $820NZ...that would be nice!
As requested, he is trying to provide all information required (warranty,returns,shipping,specs,pricing)
