What do you mean the wrong keys?? If you mean QZ were in digit 1 then that's how they were prior to about 1992 in NZ..

Ah, no, I think it had ABC on 1 and went from there, so was totally useless when word numbers started to be the norm.

Had the large sim card and a lever on the side to slide it out. Very flash, but as there was no prepay then it was very hard to justify having more than one sim.

My first mobile was the Motorola Startack connected to the Telecom 025 TDMA Mobile network. Though A company Called Gold Mobile on prepay. calls use to cost 1 dollar per minute so for my 20 dollars i could make 20 1 minute phone calls. i was 12 years old im now 22 years old. Mobile phones have come along way sense then and you get alot better phone for 100 dollars now then you did before.

The battery used to die after 10 minutes on a phone call. It had no caller id in fact when i used to call someone my number would not appear on there caller id ether.
No Text messaging.
I could Store 10 Phone numbers but i would have to remember the memory location EG 02 would be where my mum's phone number was stored so i would dial 02 then press send.
it had 10 ring tones and the speaker was nice and loud.
And A security code feature witch was easy to bypass.
That was all it had really.

Phone #1

Motorola infamous brick (8900/888 or something like that, will have to dig in the box again), but the slim line model. Still have it, still works.. well can't connect it to a network but still turns on.

Bought it for a $1 brand new on a Telecom contract from DSE. Also bought an aftermarket stubby aerial :)

Two of my mates bought one and I remember the buzz of talking to someone over it (even though they were outside my front door). One of my mates at the time spent a couple of grand on phone calls, last I heard he never paid them.

Phone #2

Motorola Startac, looked cool but the battery life was really really bad... missed my brick phone at that point. Plus you couldn't hit anyone.

Still have it, still turns on.. still has bad battery life.

Phone #3

Philips Fizz, nasty phone never really liked it. But this is when I jumped ship to Bell South with the credit card sized sim and got my 021 number which I still have today.

Motorola V525

Friggin awesome phone, blew me away at the time.

Anyway I'll stop there as the OP wanted my first phone haha. :)

My first phone was a Nokia 1100, it is an awesome phone dropped it so many times on accident, pop the battery back in and it still goes. Shame all phones are not like that
