c71931f: hmm well this auction's seller states he will be selling a N900 soon for a special price.. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Mobile-phones/Telecom-XT/auction-241467189.htm

That auction also says "MY WIFE BOUGHT THIS FOR ME OVER IN AMERICA LAST WEEK AND I DONT WANT IT BECAUSE I ALREADY HAVE A GOOD WORKING SLIDER PHONE THAT I USE SO WE BOTH DECIDED TO SELL IT ON HERE FOR A SPECIAL CHEAP PRICE. (sic)". And then he goes on to ask people to look at his other cellphone auctions.

Yeah right. Like those people here on Geekzone that start a topic "I found a new website!" and just "forget" to say its their own.

Also, on top of the wrong camera specs it says "No GPS and WIFI". First an original N85 has WIFI and GPS. Then his own picture shows clearly the "WiFi scan" - which to me means he's got a fake one he's unloading.

Would you trust him with your money buying a N900?

Ahhh good ol Trademe.
There are many suckers out there that fall for it though, keeping these guys in business.
I do notice his trader satisfaction is quite high though...no complaints of fakes?

Its obviously a sham. Its a good policy to garner mostly positive feedbacks before you try to rip people off, don't you think?

Information on release appears to be conflicting.

On the one hand there are numerous reports that it will be distributed to US sellers Sept 27th, and on the other high up Nokia spokespeople saying it won't be ready until mid-October (which incidentally is when MCO/Expansys/Play etc are stating it will be available).

I don't think it'll get delayed too dramatically, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it hitting sellers after mid-October.

whoa, I want this phone! pity it will be way out of my price range, I can just hope that at least with the realise of the N900 it will put downwards price pressure on the other N series phone so I can get one of them cheaper ;)

It's not a phone folks. It's a tablet, or as Nokia call it a MID (Mobile Internet Device). It can place or receive calls but it's peripheral to what it actually is...

Come on MF, lets not be pedantic about the correct terminology...

Its a piece of hardware, that can be used to make a phone call...its a phone.

It can be called a Tablet, or a MID...personally I think these devices are geting past all that, they simply do too much...phone, gps, maps, compass, video, music, radio, gaming, internet, documents...the list goes on...

Lets make up a new abbreviation for such devices...
- MC (mobile computer)
- Mobile (its mobile, and it does it all)

I'm just saying this because some people will be walking around the streets talking to a brick. But again people already use the iPhone...

what is wrong with talking to a brick?!?

that is how mobile phones originally STARTED off as! we are just returning to our true roots ;)

and yes this IS a phone, the fact it can do a million other stuff is simply the way things will always be developing.... by this time next year there will be a phone that can do all this AND make a cup of coffee too

It hasn't been released yet, there has only been a 900/2100 variant announced.
