Today Border security recorded 2 mins and stopped and the Force started late

Check the log on what it 'won't record' But you also may have reception problems. If it doesn't have reception it won't record, or will stop recording.

I can confirm the TiVo doesn't,t like low reception levels. My first terrestrial receiver worked fine, when I put the TiVo on I started to get random reception problems. I purchased a new antenna with 2 more reflectors on it than my old antenna. This raised my signal strength by about 5% which solved my problem. My TiVo works fine now.

There isn't "OFF" on TiVo. It's in sleep mode (when you go out travel) or always on. It's permanently buffering a window of 30 minutes on the current channel and the last one used, so that you can quickly catchup on anything.

That's always an issue when recording anything on any channel. Only the news seems to run on time. Every other program can't run to time for some reason. So you're not alone on TiVo, people with MySky have the same problem. You'll just have to get used to adding extra time on each recording you do. Or petition the networks to run on time!

Yes you can change the default recording options to always record a bit longer. Mine is set for extended.

Sleep mode just turns off the video output  but it keeps on recording regardless.

My TIVO made weird hissing/popping noises over the optical to receiver output last night, when I was in the EPG screen... weird.

The no off option is weird, and apparently some have had issues with it not waking from the sleep mode, so I've just left it on and forgotten about it.

Also yes, I find the menus a bit weird but you get used to it I guess. I still think now playing is live tv etc but I just miss a recorded programmes section title etc. A lot of any menu is going to be personal choice I guess.

Well my wife has taken to operating it just fine, which is always a good test Smile

There's an off on mine - it's connected to a powerstrip with switches, and I switch it off manually when I'm done using it Smile.

Actually, it hasn't been powered on for about three weeks - combination of a lack of actual content on the FTA channels that's worth watching, and that I haven't really had much time to watch TV. The West Wing and Game of Thrones has been pretty much the totality of my viewing for the last 3-4 weeks........

Are you sure this is the case? I came home from work yesterday, turned the TV on without changing the tivo channel, and it wouldn't let me rewind.  A couple minutes later I tried again and it only let me rewind so far as the two minues I had waited.  Don't know why.

On another note, I'm a light sleeper and find the hard drive noise annoying, even though it's not loud.  I'm trying to learn to live with it, because the alternative is to switch it off at the wall, and the start up takes a long time.

I find this too after not using it for a day. That would suggest that the harddrives have stopped, if it isn't buffering the live tv

I don't see how turning on the TV would have anything to do with the TiVo.  I tried the standby exersize a couple of months ago and next morning when I  turn it back to active i could see the last 30 minutes on the channel that it was last set to.

I have that set as well, a 5 minute buffer on the beginning and ending of any recording.
