Hey all,
Just been reading on the net about TiVo coming to New Zealand,
They state they are still looking for an ISP to partner with.
In Australia, TiVo have partnered with an ISP, with the added bonus of the TiVo content not counting towards the users internet bandwidth cap.
What if Orcon was the partner for TiVo in new Zealand for internet,
I see this could have a great strategy,
1) Orcon would have its logo etc all over with the TiVo marketing, the TiVo box sold at retailers such as Dick Smith Electronics, Harvey Norman, JB-HiFi... so people interested in the TiVo would see they need an Internet Connection to make it work, and Orcon would have its adverts right there with special sign up for TiVo or something.
2) An increase in Customer Base, more customers = more profit right?
3) Sure you may have to provide some sort of Bandwidth free limit for the TiVo, but wouldn't the media the TiVo uses come from a TiVo server situated in New Zealand? This would make sense if all the content for the TiVo was to come from a server hosted here in NZ, as the internet traffic would be local...
And Local traffic doesn't cost as such?
My thoughts, maybe you guys have already thought of this, maybe you haven’t.
A Proud Orcon customer :)
Scottk.
