Has anyone been able to purchase the Expander Drive yet?
Mytivo.co.nz says "The 1TB TiVo Expander Drive is available to purchase from Telecom."
However, neither the Orb or the Telecom store I have visited know when the product will be available, or what the price will be.
On a related note, is there a way on TiVo to show hard drive space available?
How do I know how much space I'm currently using?

AFAIK there is not an official 'spare capacity' indicator. This is largely due to the various ways that recordings can be made, so results would not be accurate.

Just keep recording, delete when viewed, and you should be sweet!

I would imagine the extender drive would be on its way pretty soon - I have a contact at Telecom sales so will ask him...

Yep, we're being screwed again:

http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Expander-External-WDG1S10000VN/dp/B001UHOR88/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1257891590&sr=8-1

With courier shipping (and today's exchange rate) it comes in at around $110 less than NZ.

The only issue that I can think of is if they have some mechanism in place to detect country of origin...

Try it and see. Worse case, you can still use it for your PC, I guess? Still, I thought the price wasn't so bad. It's more, but not exorbitantly so?
