I have had a Tivo for 2 years and the left green light always glows. I use a Harmony universal remote to control the switching on/off of the TV and TiVo.

On a second and muh more recent TiVo (again controlled by another Harmony remote), the green light will  disappear when I switch off the TV.

I have reviewed the set up for both remotes and can see no significant differences.

I have checked the TiVo manuals that I got out of storage, but nowhere did I see a diagram explaining the lights.

The green light means power on. The second TiVo is probably set to turn off the LEDs after a command is executed. Just go to settings to turn TiVo LED in front panel on/off.

Both have format LED's off.

I'll go back to the 2 setups in the Harmony Remote software.

Sorted!

The first TiVo in Harmony did not have the same model number as the second. The second is correct, because I checked the back of the TiVo's.

Whilst I have had no problems for 2 years with the first TiVo, I only just noticed that the green light went out on the new TiVo but not the old TiVo.

The green LED means that it's not in standby and is outputting video signal.
