I don't know of any Dunedin based TiVo modders. If there are any, they are keeping quiet here anyway. There is a business in Christchurch who advertises their TiVo modification service on TradeMe, Otherwise you would probably have to get it over to the other side of the Cook Strait and back, which would not be so economical given the extra freight costs.

I do TiVo mods in Lower Hutt, Wellington which is probably not going to be much help to you.

Not sure if this is the right thread but my old folks' TiVo (unmodded) stopped functioning and is currently flashing the green light on the front of the machine with no image on the TV. Does anyone in Auckland offer repairs along with the mods?

How do they get so much dust in them, unless they were on the carpet and not in any cabinet and in a very dusty room with animals? When I opened mine up, which has been on continuously for 5 years, I expected to see lots of dust. But they had very little at all, and the fan wasn't even that clogged with dust either.

I think that a lot of the dust build up is based on location, the Tivo we have in the living room wasn't too bad, just a light layer of dust, but the one we have in the bedroom on top of the drawers right where we get changed was the worst, so I thinking that the dust (skin cells, fabric fibres etc) that is stirred up when changing clothes gets pulled in to the tivo due to the cooling fan.

Skolink:

And I'll post on behalf of Liam to whom I passed the torch, but isn't a member here; Christchurch based, PROM replacement, software modification, other TiVo repairs.

Further details: https://www.trademe.co.nz/services/trades/other-trade-services/auction-1462651621.htm

Got 2 Tivos ( one for a friend) modded by Liam.  Good job and so far no issues.

He threw a new fan as mine was noisy.

Why is he advertizing as $55  Plus GST ?? Sounds like he's trying to make the upgrade cheaper than it is..

Because he is actually putting it through his business books, and has to pay GST.
