Looks like I have been lucky getting my setup working. My media access key hit the Tivo within minutes off completing the online registration. One thing I did read was that you need to reboot your pc and your Tivo when installing the desktop software.

I think the red X next to a recording means it is copy protected so you cannot copy it to your pc. I had this show up on some files I copied from my pc to the Tivo.

The desktop software does seem flaky to me. Think I will check out pytivo.

I am running windows 7 and I have the following problems:

Cannot see any files in "My TiVo Recordings" or via the TiVo desktop folder othern than .avi i.e. cannot see .mkv's

I successfully transfered one .avi to the Tivo, however now they start but never finish. I can see them in the "To Do List" as either transferring or pending. They just don't go any further.

I can transfer recorded shows to the PC OK

I have since installed Windows Media Player and Quicktime as system requirements, restarted the TiVo and rebooted the PC. Alas no luck! Not sure what Quicktime is required. Recorded shows transferred to the PC appear to need Win Media player to playback on the PC.

I shall also lodge a fault with the TiVo desk

They see me rollin, they hatin!
