Well I went and bought one, and picked up an HDMI 1.4 cable from Jaycar for $11. And I thought I had used all my HDMI sockets up on the AVR but still have one left so that's a bonus.

Should take about an hour. If you do it too close to teh program it will give you a warning that the tivo may not receive it in time. But you do have to wait a day for the tivo to be fully activated, as it usually activates fully overnight.

You can force it to do a download and get your recording settings, from memory there is a "connect now" setting or similar in the set-up menu.
Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
Just a thought... If I hooked up the SKY decoder using the RF out connected to the RF in of the TiVo, I am guessing that the TiVo probably doesn't have an analogue tuner, so wouldn't display anything. Can anyone confirm that the TiVo has digital tuners only?

That won't work. If you need a Freeview recorder that will also connect to, and record from, you Sky box then I suggest that you look at a DVD recorder instead. Something like the Panasonic XW380 speings to mind.

If it does have an analogue tuner built in, can you schedule recording from the analogue tuner?
It's starting to look like I will have to consider getting MYSKY then :(
If you are satisfied with standard definition, and recording only one show at a time, a Series 1 TiVo will record Sky. My sister uses one with her Pace Sky decoder.
freitasm: I bought a HDMI switch - it automatically switches between two HDMI sources - if one source is turned off, it goes back to the previous one. Perfect for my HTPC + TiVo setup. Turn on HTPC Media Centre shows up, turn off HTPC, back to TiVo - with no fuss.
I got one of those too. It worked well for auto-switching between two sources, but has been confused since I've added a third source. It will still auto-switch between source 1 and 2, but when using source 3 I have to manually switch to it (and then switch back once finished).
