So the Tivo has just been connected again, after being fully unplugged for more than 24 hours. Somewhat unsurprisingly, my test recordings are still all there.
I have gone through the Guided Setup stage again, but the remote issue remains...
In my case it went to Telecom - who contacted me very quickly - and as Telecom could not handle the query they gave me a direct contact with Hybrid in Australia. Quite efficient all round.
