Apologies for the photo quality.

EPG in Panasonic term is Portrait or landscape. Here is what i refer to as the grid EPG. You will see a red timer on TV1 news as this is on series record (and set to only keep 1 instance).

Same grid as on my Panasonic DMR-BWT760GN, so I'm now thinking that all of the current models have the same grid. See they above layout, plus the single channel view in my post about 2/3 down the page in the exceedingly long https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=114&topicid=208847&page_no=41

That guide looks ok. much the same as the one on my LG TV. I can make it 5 lines or up to 10 line grid.

What i can also do with the LG TV is once the guide has been loaded once, push the red button the next time and a 3 line guide comes up instantly without delay. I think its a freeview plus option.

Does the panny do that as well ?

Yes, it must changed relatively recently, as no grid EPG was the main bugbear.

cafeg - the Pany 260 EPG is quite quick to display....much much quicker than the freeview EPG in the TV (to be fair, the 2yr old Samsung TV's Freeview EPG is not too bad, just the 5 yr old Plasma Pansonic EPG is slow). Possibly the PVR pulls this data immediately on wakeup?

Well I bit the bullet early and bought a panasonic DMR-BWT760GN

They are on special at Harvey Norman for $639.00

Wow, very impressed with the DMR-BWT760GN, guide comes up just as fast as the tivo, only took about 10 mins to swap and it was up and running. very clear picture as well. remote looks ok as well. Time to play now :)

The latest Panasonic recorders update the EPG just after 3 am, at least that is what is displayed on the front panel.
Also you can remove the junk channels you don't watch from the EPG by hiding those channels. This wasn't possible on the previous models.

Ok, got a question for panny guys.

How do you pause live tv. I push the pause button nothing works.

only way i can get pause going is to push play first, then it will pause ? weird.

then when i fast forward after pause it goes to the start of the pause, i fast forward to the end, then it wont pause until i push play again, weird

I must be doing something wrong ??

Ive got a BWT720 but should be the same. I cant do anything on the damn thing! Its recording two channels already, so I assume that its got no tuners left when I go to a third channel, which I cant. Are you recording two things at the same time?

It does take a little bit to kick in. Sure you're just not waiting long enough? I'm also not seeing the going to the start of the pause.

I do miss the Tivo's always on last 30 minute rewind option though.
