What is the viewer ratio of Maori TV compared to the other channels and how are they funded ?

You would think they would jump at the chance to be on the TIVO Epg to at least raise their viewer numbers and gain more advertising etc..

Sorry, this may be too off-topic, but is there any way of opening the xmltv xml file in a way that allows one to see the 7-day EPG laid out in a fashion that's usable for a person (as opposed to a PC)? I only have the EIT data on my Vantage STB, and find using the on-line Freeview EPG a hassle - would be great if I could open the XML file in a way so as to see the full EPG laid out in order.

Technically that site is breaching the copyright on EPG and people downloading that are too. I can't see Hybrid TV (TiVo) getting into that.

"Technically", is a DIY EPG load achievable for holdout channels? It would be great if someone packaged it up as a patch, perhaps called mtv_prime_fu.bin :)

Tivo will not use MHEG or EIT as the search capabilities and advanced EPG features will not work with this data. Most current EIT and MHEG data is just basic start, stop, show title, description, HD or not and maybe a genre in EIT.

This will pose an interesting situation for Freeview, as they are probably happy with there EPG data, but manufactures might want to compete with Tivo hardware and streaming but being certified by Freeview will limit the data they can provide unless they develop their own EPG solution that works with Freeview.

telecom should have done an extensive training on their staff regarding tivo before the launch.. I went to a telecom store and played with tivo, I tried to ask some questions and most of the replies i got was "I don't know because tivo was just launched today.."

quite frustrating...

Yes, agreed. The store I went to tried to tell me I had to undergo a credit check before I could put it on my account or pay upfront with credit card or cash if I wanted to take it away straight away.
I then rang 123 twice and asked them to sort it as they said that was rubbish and would ring the store and sort it all out..
I got to the telecom store to pick it up after work and they tried the same line and said it was the way they had been told to do it,
I dug my toes in and said I'd already been in contact with 123 twice and to ring them and sort it out.
Then they went out the back and came out with the box and put it straight onto my telecom account after all ..
If I hadn't of insisted they would have got cash out of me instead of the deferred payment plan.

I thought about pushing the Tivo though a proxy server and then just adding the Extra EPG via rewrite somehow. but as far as I know you cannot set a proxy server on the Tivo in NZ. Is it possible?

While frustrating, remember most of these stores are actually third party - not Telecom employees...

Try asking me, I have had training, but I don't know if it is 'extensive' enough to keep up with the sort of questions that often come up on Geekzone. Not everyone who walks into a store is a super geek :)

would love to have it but no uhf freeview in my area and no telecom stores in the area selling them cause of that
