johcar: @ meremaiden - no I haven't called Prime. I was on the Test Team for TiVo and I know from their Forum that a lot of testers contacted Prime (at least in the early days) to complain and they just got the brush off with a standard response.

That said, time has passed and I know that TiVo is doing passably well, so it might be time to give it another go....

I know I can manually record Prime and/or Maori TV programmes, but it's more of an effort to find out what's on and when than other channels, and after they've been recorded, they're not easily individually identifiable in the Now Playing list.

In short, it's a PITA.

I didn't by Tivo in the end because of this EPG issue. Do you know why Tivo does not use the over-the-air EPG like other FreeView?

As I understand it, TiVo doesn't use the bog standard Freeview EPG - which I believe only goes out 7 or eight days (I don't have a Freeview box so I am not 100% certain of this).

TiVo's EPG goes out a full two weeks, which is why there is additional work required - it's not just an issue of Sky withholding the EPG for Prime and Maori TV.

Though 7 days would be better than the nothing we currently get!

JAYJAY: I've not had any response from Maori TV.  Might be time to send a strongly worded letter to the appropriate Minister of Parliament.

I'd happily sign just sadly no time to compose it!

Also the Freeview EPG does not contain as much information about the program as the TIVO EPG. It uses the extra information for such things as wish-list searches for certain actors etc.

Not a huge fan of the TiVo EPG, it so often uses the wrong information. For example, the miniseries remake of "The Prisoner" [I love the way Americans call a 6 part series a miniseries] had the EPG info for the original Patrick McGoohan series and recently there was a UK miniseries of "The 39 Steps" and it used the info from the original Alfred Hitchcock film.
Also I don't like the way it starts and ends with the actors names and often gets the year wrong and sometimes has little info abouit the programme at all.

E.g.
"Joe Bloggs, Rita Someone, Fred Smith [2008] Highscool drama
starring Joe Bloggs, Rita Someone, Fred Smith"

As far as I know the information for either EPG come from the TV channels themselves. It is just received and uploaded so any errors will be the channels.
