Visit your local "op shop" - my father picked up a nice little Powershot 8mp job the other day for $5, came with case, battery, charger, memory card etc.

about a year ago i did pick up from an spca op shop a sanyo xacti vpc ca8gx looked brand new payed $15 had no charger just the camera and case bought an original sanyo charger off ebay for it cost $8.22nzd including free shipping amazing camera for 8mp and can also film 60fps 480p but im not really a fan of this style of camera that is why i wanted to buy a new one but wanted to stick to $100 or less as i already own this sanyo one

I saw in today's JB junkmail included in the Dom Post that they have a Canon Ixus on special down to $99 - http://www.jbhifi.co.nz/photo/digital-cameras/canon/ixus-165-20mp-compact-camera-silver-sku-297636/

Cheaper than any other place for this camera - see http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=2958805

Guess that's quite a lot of camera (noting it has image stabilisation) for under $100, but no idea of what it's like (the Ixus range used to be well-regarded, but no idea about the recent ones...).
