I'm travelling from Australia back to Auckland today and am in the market for a new video camera. Is there much price difference between duty free Oz, duty free nz, and normal retail nz?

It's worth checking this kind of stuff out as you pass through duty free on the way out of the country.
I guess you could look at PriceSpy to see what retail prices are like in NZ.
But AFAIK there's no duty on video cameras... the only thing you would be saving would be 15% GST. And I'd guess that the high-rental duty free stores at airports would have more than 15% markup above the cheapest retail prices. It may even be that Aussie retail is the cheapest option.
Not from AU when I looked at it, US yeah, and added benifit from there that you arent locked to stupid 50FPS modes like on the AU/NZ models.
But b&h was way cheaper than the airport stores even when you allowed for sales tax etc, so I wouldnt bother with a duty free purchase at all.

Duty free means just that. If there's not much duty on something in the first place, then you won't see a huge reduction in cost.
And they're free to price at whatever price point they want, just like any other store.
Bottom line is I haven't personally see the likes of cameras be that much cheaper in duty free.
In terms of maximum price discount, you are probably best buying retail in OZ, then claim back the GST as you leave,
As mentioned above, "Duty Free" is pretty much a misnomer these days as there is no "duty" on Electronics only GST
When you buy anything "Duty Free" you are paying a big overhead for a very expensive airport (or CBD) shop location, plus overtime for the staff, who work long and antisocial hours.
I stopped duty-free shopping years ago.

Its fine for booze tho, where there is actual stupid taxes added to what is in stores, and its usually better %age too.
Typically only better for spirits. Wine and beer is better bought in NZ or Aust shops.
A significant number of products in duty free stores these days are anything but a bargain - you'll pay more for these duty free that you will in a regular store.
You can even go into a Countdown or New World and get at normal shelf price (ie non promo) and pay around $55 for a bottle of Mumm champagne. You'll get this for somewhere around $40 - $45 when it's on special.
In duty free you'll pay $75 for a bottle.
I bought a Bose Soundtouch III on the way back from Sydney yesterday and it cost me $150 less than the retail price in NZ. I guess it depends on what you're buying.
If the price difference had been less than $100 then I probably would have bought it in NZ because of the risks of the product develops a fault.
It turns out that when you arrive at midnight the last thing the elderly want to do is shop duty free.
He is going to make a claim on his insurance though I'm not sure that's entirely worth it either.
