joker97: PS I actually planned a move to Nikon D750 and even had a body on back order but alas couldn't come to terms with the inferior YET more expensive lenses (for my purposes may I add) and the "light flare scandal gate" made me stick with what i have ... so let's see what the 6D2/5D4 will bring eh

I've found Nikon lenses superior to Canon, for focus accuracy, flare control, and robustness. I've owned a good number of both. That flare issue is body related.

TLD: We have a young lad who joined our camera club having just bought a brand new 60D. In two months he'd taken >200,000 exposures, and the shutter had died.

good to know it lasted > 2x the rating!
i wonder how many of those shots he got to review

200,000 exposures in 2 months, at 8 hours a day, is 400 odd exposures an hour. Sounds almost impossible.

TLD: Just wondering why anyone would need 256Gb CF card? My still cameras both take one CF and one SD car, and will automatically switch to the other when the first one if full. My video camera takes two CF cards, and will also switch seamlessly. But even at 50MB/s recording, 32Gb lasts a fair time.

I imagine there would be uses for high capacity cards though. Security systems perhaps, but a small HDD would be better for that.

4K video.

36MP sensors (with 50MP rumoured for 2015)

I haven't quite cancelled the back order but my guess is it's a good reason not to spend money ... YET

I have had focus problems thankfully with the 5d3.

I'll definitely give you 4K video. Peter Jackson was using pairs of RED Epics shooting 48fps 5K (x two) for the Hobbit movies. In fact he had 48 RED Epics in total, so the bandwidth for that must have been phenomenal.

I'm now up to 24Tb of storage with onsite backups, and I actually think about what I am photographing. Most of my stills are taken with a seven year old 1DsMK3 (the first one sold by Photo & Video in CHC) at 22Mp, but file size tends to be up to 33Mb.

Good to see Nikon's new distributor has their eye on the ball.

New D4s price....now up to $9,000

Meanwhile the Canon equivalent is $7,500...!

Yes that 4K business is going to need either external recorders or very big cards, not that I shoot video.

You'll be buying one of those will you? I only use Canon 1D bodies, but skipped the 1DX because it was sports orientated and not so much better than my 1DMK4. There are rumoured to be possibly two large sensor replacements for the 1Ds3 — one with, and one without AA filter. That will be of use to me and I will definitely replace my 1DsMK3 when they are released.

I have a D810 at 36Mp and a D3s at 12 Mp.

What I would like - but cannot get - is a D4s innards-in-a-D810 body.

I do not need the speed but I do want the high ISO ability in a pro grade body with detachable grip. I also do not want to pony up a frankly ridiculous $9000.

If only Leica M cameras had AF!
