Great thanks everyone
I have purchased lxsw20's 430ex II

I have done alot of research in the last few days and almost bought a Yongnuo 568 ii (dx.com was the cheapest I could find btw), but then got put off with stories of new ones with problems.
Think 430ex ii is all the power I need for now :)

Recommendations on light diffusers? A photographer I hired recently was using something that looked like a flimsy white box wrapped around the flash.

I made comments on diffusers on the previous page. In summary: don't bother for now. Many people who use diffusers have no idea how they work. I'm a professional, I understand light well, I own many diffusers that fit on an on camera flash (Stofen, tiny soft box, Omnibounce) but I don't use any of them. Read the previous page for why.

Learn how light works. Learn to bounce. Learn about the relationship between light source size and distance to subject. Then come back and tell us what you think you need and why.
