TLD: I must say I'd like a mirrorless system along side my 1D gear. The image below is a 100% crop using a Fuji XT1 from the Trade Stand at the 2014 National Convention (in Marlborough). Not sure why the EXIF thinks it was taken in 2012, other than I expect the date/time was never set. Anyway, that's damn sharp for a 100% crop.

GZ has crushed the aspect ratio on the image. You might be able to see the original HERE

The XT 1 is nice. Apart from the fact that they hamstrung it's ISO in RAW.

It is not my intention to start a comparison of image quality as the better cameras will win, or to promote a specific brand, but I do want to make sure the size benefits of the travelzooms are understood.

Took these today. This is a wide angle shot resized down from 4608x3456 for posting:

In the centre of this shot there is a building - this is a cropped version from the wide angle - good record of what the naked eye can see in the original:

Using 30x optical resized (no crop):

And a crop and resize of this zoom:

Now the important bit. This is from a camera that looks like this when not being used (doesn't use AA, just for size):

When turned on and at the wide to mid zoom - full zoom extends further than this:

There are lots of reviews if you search for TZ60 and SX700 which will also probably compare with Sony and Nikon. All give pretty good results. Panasonic TZ60 might be best choice but it is a pity the price is kept high.

Nikon have just released new cameras. Personally, I like the Coolpix p610. 16mp, 60x zoom, wireless and nfc.

Probably heaps of others too, but that caught my eye in the email I got.
