ricky1981: Geektastic - where did you preorder from? It seems only 2 resellers are now going to get Leica Q's due to some distribution changes :(

Edit: just saw you used ProGear, they are one of the 2 resellers. Apparently 2 Q's are coming soon, ProGear is getting 1 so if you are first on the list you should get it.

As of Friday, Progear still have not seen any.

Distribution changes require Leica dealers to stock a minimum of $100,000 worth of stock (so that's 2 lenses and a body then...!;-) )

Yeah, it seems I have unintentionally created quite a mess because of that requirement. I sent a friendly message to Leica (Germany) asking if they could please send some Q's to NZ, they put me in touch with Leica Australia who said they are no longer dealing with NZ since Lacklands are now dealing direct with Leica.

Leica Aus contacted Lacklands who called me and asked where I was buying a Q, I told them and they said I shouldn't be able to get one there. This was news to me but it seems the supplier was hoping to get around the $100k stock requirement but they've been stopped because this has come to light due to me chasing Leica directly.

The supplier obviously is not happy about it and are blaming me which is a bit frustrating as I had asked if there was an issue with then getting a Q and was told there was no problem at all from their end so I thought me chasing could only help. Since then, Lacklands told me that my supplier had expressly turned down the $100k requirement so knew they wouldn't an approved reseller anymore.

The supplier had also told me a very different version of the distribution changes to both Lacklands and the other suppliers who I have spoken to since. A real shame as I've dealt with them for about 7 years but looks like that is at an end as they blame me for not being able to sell Leica and I feel I've been misled.

Anyway, I'm now in a queue with Photo Warehouse so hopefully I might still get a Q this year! Let me know if you get yours and what you think :)

Update from Photo Warehouse, they had no idea when my order would arrive. All Lacklands/Leica would say is the back orders would be fulfilled by Feb/March! Apparently there are 200 on order in Australia alone and I guess that takes priority.

On the upside, I've been offered a 2 week old Q for $6k by someone who imported one from the UK so I should have that by the end of the week :)

I think that guy tried selling it to Progear and was surprised they wouldn't give him retail for it...!

Haha not sure, he seemed happy to take $6k and I'm happy as it saved me $800 and since it is from the UK, the warranty transfers :)

Loving the camera, it is just as good as I hope and even the wife is impressed (aside from the cost).

I tried getting a straight answer as to when the SL would land on these shores but so far no joy on that.
