Refugees are people in very bad situations.

On Wednesday Government support partners UnitedFuture, ACT and the Maori Party spoke out against National's reluctance to lift the quota with UnitedFuture leader Peter Dunne saying the Government had "got it wrong". There was a strong case for lifting New Zealand's annual refugee quote to at least 1000 and the Government should also consider an emergency response to the mounting refugee numbers in Europe, he said.
