Nice shot! I love the 3rd one, but it seems like there's a shadow in the lower right corner.

i know some people don't believe in cropping, but seriously in the pink smoke one, convert it to 4:3 to wipe out the grass below, desaturate the grass left behind bottom left. if you can persist, then paint more smoke bottom left and top right and it suddenly becomes a masterpiece

Some from the Dunedin Midwinter Carnival, if you had told me a few years ago I would be able to shot at 25600 ISO and think noting of it, I wouldn't have believed you:

Yeah, looking at 1:1 beside files from an 6D 5dmk3 at the same ISO, the amount of noise isn't much different, but for some reason the 1dx's noise looks more pleasing, I'm not really sure why, maybe it looks a little less digital and slightly more film grain?

you've rekindled my 600mm envy!

anyway, I wished my bank account would allow me a $1500 tamron and a crop sensor for last night's Venus - Jupiter "conjunction" ...

I had a bash at shooting the conjunction, but I don't have a rigid enough tripod, the NW wind conditions mean too much atmospheric shimmer, and shooting at ISO 3200, Jupiter's moons were lost in the noise - and not quite dark enough sky. The best I could get showed the arc of Venus rather than just a blob - but that was about it.

Gave it a try but 200mm really isn't enough on a full frame, had to crop the crap out of it:

I had another go at the conjunction, but at 600mm FX, Jupiter and Venus were too far apart, but conditions were a bit better. This is Jupiter and a few moons (more or less a 100% crop from a 36mp frame @ 600mm:
