Whats the best way to write an untrackable anonymous email? Is it possible these days?

I'd suggest that if a burner email address isn't untrackable enough, you shouldn't be sending the email.

It's not hard to send a reasonably untrackable email..... but no reason to unless you're up to no good and in that case, you're on the wrong shaded web.

And no, don't ask how I won't say.

The reason is relevant as it would have to align with the helpers moral compass.

If for instance you wanted to report an unethical practice but felt that you would get blow back then I am sure that many would help you.

If you want to email photos to get revenge on someone then I am sure not many would be willing to help.

If you ask for help on a public forum you are not always going to get the advice you want.

I'd just sign up for a free email account with a new email address. If you have a static IP you might want to use a proxy or VPN.

I think 'Yandex' mail offers signup without any authentication method like another email or phone number.

But it does ask for one later on.

Another option is dodgy online SMS receiving websites.

I suppose you could signup with a less known email provider and use an SMS receiving website.

To be anonymous online; download TOR browser (onion browser) and the default search engine will be DuckDuckGo. It is incredibly slow at times but it makes your connections ping around the world many times so it is very hard to trace back.

I'm in the same boat when it comes to making emails accounts in my fun of scam baiting.

Simply using a free email service _might_ cut it if you can live with your identity possibly being discovered

No log VPN paid for in monero + protonmail is probably sufficient to thwart most casual law enforcement / court involvement

If I wanted to go full blown tinfoil... I'd try and anonymously acquire a cheap used device via cash sale from a location without cameras, run tails on it, TOR + no log monero vpn + protonmail, then when finished thoroughly physically destroy the device to the level a 5 eyes TLA agency would for something they really didn't want recovered

If you went full tinfoil you might have the recipient wondering "how was that done?". As soon as they did a search this thread would pop up and they might recognise a link to the OP. It may not matter that the evidence had disappeared.

@keriboi some interesting suggestions on VPN, no logs and payments with non-case functionality.

Using a "disposable" email is not always secure as most mailers will add your IP address to headers - hence the suggestions above.

Like so many things, it depends on how much time & money you want to throw at the problem, or conversely, how much money you want them to throw at the problem.

In my opinion, the answer is no, it's not possible.

Practically all email is sent in plain text
Email is a "store & forward" system. Traces will be left on disks as it travels across the net
Meta data! So much info is available in the headers

Wouldn't buying a 'burner phone' & pre-paid sim be easier?
& setting up a disposable Gmail address?

Or would your personal info be captured somewhere along the line?
(A phone would avoid capturing your ip address - closest would be cell tower & you could drive somewhere before turning off flight mode to send the email.)
