Is this invite method still working?? tried to send one to my wife's Gmail account as an invite as per one of the links but the message never comes thru.

it says on the website that they are beta testing at the moment and the user limit for that has been reached.

I can try for you if you'd like. Someone I attempted to invite about 24 hours ago only just got an invite.
So it appears it might still be working, albeit in a decidedly hit and miss fashion.

Looks like the invites back door is now closed. My wifes one came today and when she sent to the Google+ site and click on join she was told the invitations were now closed and to try again later..
