Thanks to Haventech for helping the community for all these years. I am happy to take up the cause.

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/83022367/TVGuide.xml

Still sorting out the exact content and format of the file, but this one can certainly be imported by Big Screen as that's what I use myself.

Please post questions or problems here and I will do my best to help.

As I ended up doing with Haventech's and I did for a FreeView Guide here is a little application that will download GuideProviders guide as a xml file and store it in the folder the application is stored in.  You can add it as a scheduled task to run once a week or whenever you like to automatically download your Guide XML file then import it into Media Center using your favourite import utility.

I've set up the automatic update process at my end, so hopefully it all ticks along smoothly on its own now. The file will be updated daily probably at about 3.30am. Among others, it has all the Telstra cable channels with the exception of channel 69 'TLC' as I could not find an EPG source for it.

I'll try and keep an eye on this thread, but I don'thang out in these forums much, so if you have any problems drop me a PM or email guideprovider0064@gmail.com.

Cheers for this mate.

Just to confirm, this does not include Freeview-only channels correct? eg: Choice TV

How do you go about creating the xml file?
What hardware is required?

May look at hosting a file too just as a backup.

Not a major bro but would make it more complete. There's only a tiny number of channels missing but a scan of the Freeview transponders and a uhf scan would make the full package. I guess you'd need to do a de-dupe, not sure how much of a hassle that is

Something funky happening with categories - it this what is coming down with the EPG?

All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Hmmm. Not sure. Category is likely whatever epg collector picked up from Sky.

Creating the file is easy - if you want the Sky channels just use something like EPG Collector to extract the data from the EIT EPG and create an XML file.

The problem most people have faced is that the minute you make this public and can be tracked down Sky will send you a cease and desist order from their lawyers ordering you to take down their copyrighted content. Sites like dropbox at least allow those kind enough to create this content to be (semi) anonymous and there is very little Sky can do.

That's correct. They are not always accurate.
