For some reason i signed into my chrome browser via my google account-- probably for youtube or mail , can't quite remember why.

Today I noticed that I was signed in, so signed the browser out as the user name covers up the minimise window control -- but, signing out also deleted all of my chrome bookmarks and extensions.

Stupid stupid stupid. Not even quite sure why it did this, as these bookmarks were created while I was not signed into chrome and over many years.

Fortunately, signing back in restored the bookmarks.  SO i exported them, signed out of chrome, bookmarks deleted again, then imported bookmarks again.

I hate this 'shared' approach that chrome are taking. It removes privacy and control .

Probably some people might like it but not me.

You have the option to sync or not. Up to you, the option is there.

Will take a look, thanks for the tip....

I've signed out of chrome before without having all my bookmarks deleted.

I was wondering if the deletion activity is a new feature.

I can't recall being asked to sync in the first instance though.
