vrtual: Re movies - good question, hadn't tried that til now.
But yes! Just put 720P mp4 of Dave Grohl's Sound City doco on a USB stick and it's playing fine off that.
Just opened it from the file explorer. Seems to have a specialist app for playing it.
Copying it to internal drive is drag-and-drop from the file explorer if you needed to.

Definitely worth waiting to see what Google I/O has in store though

Well, it appears Google I/O has nothing really in store in terms of new Chromebook hardware (aside from those lucky bastards getting a free Pixel! wowzers), so probably best to buy from Amazon now.

P1n3apqlExpr3ss: It could be worth waiting a little longer... I've heard from Samsung NZ that there will be plans to launch Chromebooks here in May/June. This has been pushed back from late April. Whether that delay means that a new version is going to be launched in the coming weeks (and that is the one we get over the current Series 3) or supply issues for the current Series 3 is anyone's guess
PlayTech is now stocking the entry level Acer CB for $429, a horrendous markup for a $200 device in the states
