BraaiGuy: Can't seem to log in anymore. Maybe they have suspended my account

No, have another go.  It seems to randomly think you're not logged in.

I just tried to add you as a watched seller and it dumped me back to the log in screen then wouldn't log me back in but then when I refreshed a page I was already logged in on it came back as being logged in.

So I'm guessing bug.

rubygirl: So, I was waiting for my photos to load for my trade for the past hour or so. Nothing showing, although it appeared they were uploading. I assumed Wheedle were vetting them but this was taking too long.
I was using Firefox so switched to Explorer. This worked and I now have photos. It was not completely successful as the photos didn't list/display as they loaded - just delete icons displaying in mid-screen as each loaded - presumably to delete a photo not displayed but there somewhere. According to the instructions I should have been able to tick the main pic but this did not happen.
So, Wheedle don't seem to have tested this with Firefox. And Explorer is not quite working correctly but does at least load photos.
My only big complaint so far - apart from the security issues mentioned above which may yet prove to be serious. Oh, I am a little concerned about the non-vetting of photos by new users - could be nasty.

Funny you mention this.

I signed up and tried to make a listing this morning using Chrome and it was lagging really badly.
Switched to IE9 and it was perfect.

I'm sue Neil as the owner wont be too impressed by whoever is the technical lead on this project.

Hope it works for them but the site atm seems very slow and unresponsive.

With a lot of their team in India(according to the newspaper articel on it) it may not be as easy and quick to get things sorted, especially with the time zones. I just wonder why they aren't doing it all in NZ, it is not as though the guy is poor.
I hope it is successful too because NZ needs some competition in this market.
You may get an indication if it is seen as a threat to trademe, as it will likely affect their shareprice.

DonGould: http://www.wheedle.co.nz/Search/ItemDetails?id=3608

The action doesn't appear in the 'other' list...

http://www.wheedle.co.nz/Search/List?Category=131&Level=2

So if this action doesn't appear in the list, then what others also don't?

There's also talk about how it's only $1 to list...  yet on TM it's only 55c to list.  Yes, you pay when you sell, but what if you want to list two dozen products knowing that many won't sell?

Are people realistically going to spend money to list products if they're not going to sell?

Are people going to bother listing if their listings just don't show up in the listings?

General items
  • List your ad for free
  • Fee - $1 (only when your item has sold for over $20)
  • Up to 10 photos and video option
  • Until sold or withdrawn
  • Auction duration 1 - 14 days
  • $1 payment is deducted from members account when the item has sold
  • Withdrawing an auction before the scheduled finish time will incur a cancellation charge of $3

Thanks.

I also note that items are now displaying in the 'other list' now as well.

Ok, if Wheedle are watching this thread maybe we should try and be constructive?

1) The "Wheedle-Send Question" you get when someone asks a question on your auction needs to have a reference to the actual auction in the subject and a link in the body of the email (like Trade Me)

2) Blacklisting doesn't work

3) Uploading images doesn't work properly

4) It nearly let me place a bid on my own auction and then 404'd...lol

Wish they would improve over the craphouse trademe user interface - 3 clicks to sort by lowest price vs 1 click almost everywhere else.

Still no ability to view multiple areas.

Seems to still think of auckland as one place, so useless to sort things that you want to pick up.

Site dead - both for login and viewing. At least I saved my auction text should I have to re-list on TradeMe. Should have put my phone number on the listing just in case I can never login again and the auction remains accessible.

BraaiGuy: I think we have a fly on the wall in this thread :-P

...and on the TradeMe MB as well.  I already got bashed over there for a comment I made.

If they're smart, they'll register a user here and start communicating with us.  It's not hard to win us as friends, but holy crap I wouldn't want you lot hating in me!

I agree, I think the feedback should be aimed at being a little more constructive, at least they are giving this a go. As to why they would outsource to India, whilst cost is likely the primary motivator, I have worked with Indian web teams in the past, and some of them have been some of the most qualified and clever people who are hard working and honest. I am not saying this is the case here, I am just saying it's possible there is more than one reason.

na, if I choose an auction I bid on then I'm logged in, if I choose a list then I'm logged out.

Man I wish now I hadn't used my Geekzone password ;)

I'm pretty sure if they showed up here people would be more than happy to point out what could be improved.

No one wants to see other people fail.

I don't want another rip-off of trademe. one of those is bad enough. I want a site to use that is better in so many ways that trademe is deficient and refuse to fix.

I signed up using my lumia 800 and curve 9320, no issues.
IMO, there is room for another trademe.

They just have to do it right.

I think once the site is a little more stable they will be a little more open than trademe to feedback about the site. Though I need to make clear I have no working knowledge of whether this is true or not.
