Ones that actually reply to email enquiries? I've got a very simple design I need laser-cut from a piece of 2mm stainless or aluminium sheet - yay for Google Sketchup enabling a design to be thrown together in just a few mins!

Have flicked dimensioned drawings off to a couple of fabricators in Auckland, using the contact details on their websites. And had a big fat nothing in reply - I know this is a one off low value job, but why bother putting contact details on your site if you don't reply?!

So does anyone know any good fabricators - need someone who can supply the raw material (is pretty small - 300x80mm) and laser cut 2 holes and a couple of slots in it.

When I was getting something made down here in Wellington I was finding the same problem.

Figured the job was too small so either I wouldn't get a reply or it was 2x what I ended up paying.

I finally managed to find somewhere, so just persevere.

1 Idea I had, but didn't end up needing to do was going to a metal work adult night class as a school.

Doesn't have to be in Auckland as long as they can take payment remotely, and can courier the finished item!

David - yep, that's what I figured too.

I know the guys here are good: rinnon

I do IT work for them and know other people who have had jobs done by them and they have always been really pleased with the result.

Down in Palmy here we wired up Total Sheetmetals new building. They have all the gear and are good guys. Just had a look for their website though and it seems to be non-existant. Have used Broadway Sheet Metals previously, they were fast prompt and relatively cheap as well.

Steve Tusa was the guy who I dealt with, think he is the owner. They are based in Avondale Auckland.

Hi there i am a general sheetmetal fabricator situated in auckland, i can do simple requests like asked in the previous posts, any job is taken seriously, and because i work for myself and use family machinery i tend to be a lot cheaper.
