richms: ... thinking of calling noise control.
richms: I have the oizito versionMuch cheaper I think I saw for $99 at Bunnings - how much did you pay for the replacement blades ?
richms: I have the oizito version of the renovator and it cuts the same as the real one once you put the better blades on it, the problem is that its still not what I need for cutting steel box section to length. The neighbors get all pissy about an angle grinder at any time of the day so I need something quieter for when they are whining and thinking of calling noise control.

I;d say this advice applies to almost every type of power tool.
I have a dirt cheap hammer drill from bunnings ($25 IIRC).? the drill bits it came with were rubbish but use some decent drill bits and it is just as good as the drills that costshundreds of dollars.
the main downside being that the motor might blow out with heavy use. But if it does, who cares. I get it replaced under warranty or, worst case, I just buy another one for $25.
I've built 3 decks on one drill, then it broke down and I just bought another one.
same goes for my Mitre saw, Skillsaw, reciprocatng saw, jigsaw.? I?buy the cheapest one available and put better quality accessories with it.
richms: We did that with heatguns when doing a friends place up. Ended up with 6 or so of them with a couple breaking each weekend. Was great to have about 10 people over all stripping paint at once tho.

I wonder why they kept failing as there isn't much too them. I have a Wenger one that is over 15 years old and has stripped many many window and door frames and hasn't skipped a beat. Although before that I had a B&D one that broke after a year.
You can never have enough Volvos!
mattwnz: What makes it better than a normal skill saw? I don't buy products that are hard sold with tv advertorials, and they then don't mention the price. That is a trick to get you talking with them where they will offer you a 'fantastic deal'.I stick to the top brands when it comes to power tools such as makita that do have a sticker price. They are very durable and last for years and years.
