Am writing a document for new home builders trying to bond together the specifications for structured cabling in a UFB-Ready house, while also being taylor broadband-ready because VDSL/Fibre wont be in the area for 20 years.

What different types of roof are there.
So far I have

- Corrougated Iron
- Fake Tiles made of corrugated iron (not sure what these are called)
- Ceramic Tiles

Have you tried googling for "Branz" and roofing materials? That should give you a pretty complete list of certified materials used in NZ.

Thanks - thats exactly sorta what I was looking for. the Gerard website calls the category "Pressed Steel" tiles and shingles.

I think thats about it. I cant think of any other types other than Tar sheets which I have seen on only one new house.

Butynol rubber membrane roofing. A thin rubber layer over a plywood substrate.

Pressed metal tile is known in the trade as "tin tiles". That name encompasses all the brands including Gerard and Monier.

The metal tiles can also be known as decramastic roof tiles

That will only list the ones where a company had paid Branz to certify and test their roof. But there are many others available that won't be. I don't believe that there is no requirement to use something that is branz approved.

shingles? lots of houses in Epsom seem to have that style of roofing. probably describes the look, more than the material

I think many of the NZ ones are bitumen. But you can also get cedar shingles, although they do cup over time.

This list should cover at least 99.9% (if not all) of conventional roofing used in New Zealand:

Profiled metal roofing (corrugated, trapezoidal, trough)
Pressed metal roofing tiles
Masonry roofing tiles (concrete, teracotta)
Shingles (asphalt)
Shakes and Shingles (timber)
Slate (natural/artificial)
Membrane roof (concrete or plywood substrate)
Bitumen-impregnated organic fibre roofing (corrugate profile)
