Hi All,

We spent the weekend putting up some Aluminium fences out the front and across our driveway.

It is this stuff: http://www.bunnings.co.nz/protector-aluminium-flat-top-pool-gate-975x1200mm-black_p00228952

That's the pool gate, we have the driveway gates which are the same but wider - 2 of them.

We have drop bolts on the two gates but would like something for the top. The standard D latches are a challenge as the gap between the two gates is a little bit wider than is needed for those. Other latches are a problem as the gate framing isn't very wide - you don't have much space to work with.

What we would really like is the D shaped bit that folds over the top which I think is called a banana latch or a gate bow:

Something like this: http://wireworksnz.com/Gate-Bow/6598-6e9e5bb8-fbec-4835-92bc-25920b17cc99/

We haven't had any luck at Mitre 10 or bunnings. Does anyone know where to find these or suggestions for other options?

draw something up and take it to your local engineering/metal working place - probably make one for you quick as a flash

Thanks - was thinking that.

Was looking for something I could go look at, pick up and slap on tonight.

Will make some enquiries.

Until you get the metal thing made up, you could always go for a textile-based solution:
