Moving houses next month, can anyone recommend a good moving company - anyone had any good experiences?

I used No 1 Movers, no issues here. They connected my washing machine up too. Cost about $300 from memory.

I've used The Smooth Mover a few times, I think they're pretty decent.

Box of beer, BBQ, mates and a hired truck did it for us :)

You could try http://www.andrewshousemovers.co.nz/

It really depends how far you need to move the house, and how big it is wink

It's worth noting that a 5 bedroomed house will most likely have to be cut in half to fit on the truck...

Wow, that's cheap.

OP, if you go with the smaller companies, you are looking around the $90-100 an hour for 2 men and a truck. A little bit more for more men, but they will be quicker.

If you need it packed, it will cost more, and you'd be better going with the bigger companies (who will charge more anyway).

Assuming easy access from you old house and into you new (ie., not up heaps of stairs and they can park their truck pretty close) they should be able to move a 5 bed house in about 4-5 hours (maybe a bit more if the truck they bring isn't big enough for all your stuff - 5 bedrooms will be about 50-60 cubic metres I reckon and the tighter they have to pack the truck, the longer it takes to load).

The more you have ready and packed, the quicker they will be too.

I used to drive a furniture truck.

We've used AA Auckland Carriers a few times, and have always been happy. Friendly, efficient, helpful, and reasonably priced.

Tiger Transport are great people. Panmure based but obviously work everywhere. They do storage too if required.
