Senecio: I don’t see the point? Why transfer gas from one canister to another when you could just use the original canister?

Why not just by the correct canister for your equipment?

Plus you get left with a whole lot of partially empty canisters that you don't want to take with you as you don't want to run out on a multiday hike.  Would love to buy a multifuel burner but they are expensive and heavy.

Disposable canisters aren't designed to be reused.  Reusable cylinders are heavier than you would want to carry.

I would just pony up and get the multi-fuel burner, or accept the cost of the refills.

I don't think that system will work very well unless you have a decent sized cylinder to decant from.  I just see it making more partially empty cylinders.

I love it how the photo to advertise it has 'Dangerous to refill gas' printed on the orange cylinder they are refilling.

Also, this couldn't complete full transfer surely. Once the pressure equalises in the two canisters you'd end up with two partially full?

NO,

Both of the canisters have threads to attach to the appropriate device,

If the developer of this "product" actually cared they could have built an adapter that threaded onto both canisters to at least try to keep the gas in the canisters,

Instead you have a hunk of brass where they only method of ensuring a seal is simply the force applied vertically by your hands....

This is a disaster waiting to happen,

And to be honest Gas stoves are rubbish for hiking, you end up paying a fortune for refills, liquid fuel is much cheaper in the long run....
